Hostile concluded a packed programme of events last week, screening seven times in seven days. 

Monday 19th June kicked off Refugee Week. This week coincided with Windrush Day on Thursday 22nd June. It was a particularly special occasion, as this year marks 75 years since the arrival of the HMT Empire Windrush arrived in the UK. 

Partnering with a range of organisations, from film festivals, refugee and migrants’ rights charities and local councils, the film played in London, Cardiff, Plymouth, Lancaster, Sheffield and even Berlin. 

Director Sonita Gale joined several events for Q&As, and was accompanied by a variety of panellists and hosts including activist Patrick Vernon OBE and Windrush campaigner Michael Braithwaite. As well as being interviewed by Professor Bruce Bennett of Lancaster University and author Tchiyiwe Chihana.
