On 6th May, Hostile screened as part of the UK Asian Film Festival at Kiln Theatre in Kilburn. Hostile is an Official Selection of the festival, which celebrates the ‘richness and vibrancy of South Asian culture, history, arts, storytelling, and self-expression’.
With the festival being run by women who champion South Asian voices, this festival held particular resonance for the director.
The Q&A, hosted by Southall Black Sisters, highlighted the importance of South Asian voices in storytelling and the making of Hostile. There were also some emotional responses for some of the attendees who have been subject to No Recourse to Public Funds (Find out more about NRPF and resources here).
Hostile continues to be in cinemas and is now embarking on an educational tour around the country. Find your local screening at www.hostiledocumentary.com/tickets
