‘I’ve written music for about 70 films and television shows but I’m probably proudest of my involvement in this because it’s incredibly important and it’s the most salient thing out there right now’ – Nitin Sawhney
On Monday 13th December Hostile screened at the Bertha DocHouse in London. Bertha DocHouse is the UK’s first cinema dedicated to documentary, and is described as the ‘home of documentary.’
The screening was followed by an exclusive Q&A with the writer-director of Hostile, Sonita Gale, and was moderated by the award-winning musician Nitin Sawhney. Nitin Sawhney is an Executive Producer, and his music also features in the film. He is also interviewed in the film, sharing his personal experience of the hostile environment.
Nitin and Sonita discussed the creative inspiration behind the film alongside why it is very timely in light of recent immigration policies curbing the rights of migrants in the UK. With the Nationality and Borders Bill just being passed in parliament, this is an incredibly timely film and it is highly important that we continue to elevate the stories of migrant communities.
Thank you to everyone who came along. You can view the full Q&A here:
