Lisa Simmons, the artistic and executive director of the Roxbury International Film Festival interviewed director Sonita Gale about Hostile, ahead of its festival screening.
Sonita discussed how her personal journey led to the making of this film, how the story of the UK’s immigration system is connected to the United States, and also touches upon some of the creative choices made when making the film, such as the use of music.
Hostile’s screening at RoxFilm 2022 marks the film’s North American premiere, and as Lisa says in the interview, “this is a universal story. We’re facing this everywhere.”
