Sonita Gale was recently a panellist at the Royal Albert Hall ‘Immigrant Journeys – Context and Heritage” talk, as part of “Journeys: 150 Years of Immigration”, a series of events curated by the award-winning producer and musician Nitin Sawhney.
Sonita screened the trailer of her debut documentary, Hostile, and took part in a discussion alongside Dina Mufti (Producer of the BAFTA-Winning Human Planet) and acclaimed poet LionHeart. Nitin Sawhney moderated the event.
Each panellist discussed what the world ‘immigrant’ meant to them, opening up important conversations around migrant identity in the UK today.
Nitin Sawhney is the Executive Producer for Hostile, and also provided music for the film alongside Ayanna Witter-Johnson and George the Poet. Hostile was recently longlisted for 3 BIFA Awards and premiered at the Raindance Film Festival 2021. The film will be screened at the Cambridge Film Festival on 20th and 23rd November, with a special Q&A with Sonita on the 23rd. Book your tickets here: www.cambridgefilmfestival.org.
